The full cost of the RPL course is dependent on the electives chosen and may vary from that shown above. The maximum would be no more than $7000, but only if 2 advanced diploma units are imported.

The fees for RPL are payable on a per unit basis after assessment is carried out by the trainer.

Online course fees may be paid prior to self-enrolling in a unit. The “end of unit” or “payment plan” options must be arranged with the trainer, who then will activate units selected.

PLEASE NOTE: Only when a unit is fully paid up will the result be finalised for that unit.

Course Description:

The CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design applies to building designers who undertake building design projects covered by the Building Code of Australia (BCA), except Type A Construction buildings. It is also required by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) for a Building Design - Medium Rise licence. Seven (7) units from CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design are also required for a (QBCC) Building Design - Low Rise licence. For more information on this licence, including the seven (7) required units, click here.

Building designers may specialise in residential projects, including new buildings, heritage restorations and additions or renovations; or they may also undertake commercial and industrial projects, such as factories, motels, offices, restaurants, retail or service outlets and warehouses.

Duration:

The nominal duration for the CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design is 1170 hours to 1585 hours. The expected duration may end up much lower or higher depending on your particular circumstances.

Qualification requirements:

To successfully complete CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design, you are required to complete seventeen (17) units of competency. The seventeen units comprise seven (7) core units and ten (10) elective units.

A participant has a six (6) month enrolment period per unit/s from time of enrolment.

Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) Building Design - Low Rise licence:

If you are wanting a low rise design licence from the QBCC, or are just interested in residential work at this time, you only need to do seven (7) select units from CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design. For more information on QBCC Building Design - Low Rise licence, click here.

1. The Fee applies at the unit level for on-line access. You may have to purchase further text material, these will be detailed in the unit.

2. If you just want the ‘QBCC Low rise building design licence’, make sure you only complete the seven (7) units as identified in the table above.

Entry requirements:

There are no designated entry requirements for the CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design. However, you will need a sound working knowledge of basic maths, e.g. addition, subtraction, division and multiplication and be able to read, write and understand standard English, similar to what is used in this information.

You must also be able to send and receive emails with attachments and install software. You will also be required to upload files and photos and may have to complete an electronic logbook. You will also need to download files using a web browser.

You will also need access to a computer which has, or on which you are able to install, a web-cam and possibly some software.

Participants in the CPP50911 Diploma of Building Design will be required to complete a range of assessments, which can include practicals, activities, projects, the completion of a logbook, etc. Assessment requirements are outlined in the relevant unit.
