Apprentices

Eligibility

You MUST be an indentured apprentice to complete the CPC30611 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating under normal conditions. If you are not an apprentice, or soon to be an apprentice, then you must be able to RPL all but two (2) of the required units through knowledge, skills and experience from being a painter for a number of years.


Attendance

You do not have to attend any formal classes, or get released by your employer for 'block release'. Theory and completion of your logbook is completed online, in your own time, where you like. Practical skills is gained and assessed in the workplace.


Course duration

Typically a painting apprenticeship will take four (4) years to complete, with the CPC30611 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating taking approximately three and a half (3.5) years to complete in that time. Accelerated progression is possible for apprentices with prior knowledge or experience, or those who can achieve competency in a unit/s quicker than standard times.


Support

You will be fully supported by industry qualified and current QBCC licensed painters and builders. We will contact you regularly by email and/or phone with at least a monthly visit on-site with you and your employer to discuss your progression. In between times you are more than welcome to contact us any time with any questions you may have.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

If you have been employed as a painter and decorator and have gained knowledge, skills and experience from being on the job, you may be eligible for RPL for the CPC30611 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating.

This option is available to you if you can RPL all but two (2) of the required units. We will provide training to up to two (2) units at either our Capalaba or Caboolture workshops.

If you are considering RPL for this course, please contact us first before you proceed any further so we can discuss your experience with you.

If you proceed with an RPL application, we require a $300, non-refundable deposit up front before you proceed. This covers our cost in assessing your initial self assessable and experience video. Therefore we strongly recommend to contact us first before you proceed any further with an RPL application.



Costs

Apprentices

If you are an apprentice, the Queensland government subsidises the majority of the course fees. However you do have to pay a student contribution fee. The contribution fee is $1.60 per nominal hour, per unit. For example if a unit has 20 nominal hours, the contribution fee is $32.00. The total fee for the course comes to $1728.00. See the 'Units' tab for the nominal hours for each unit.

You do not have to pay the total fee up front. You can pay the the contribution fee on a unit by unit basis as you enrol.

RPL

The total RPL fee for the CPC30611 Certificate III in Painting and Decorating is $2700.

You will be required to pay a non-refundable up front fee of $300 when you make your RPL application. The $2400 balance is invoiced at the finalisation of your RPL application and payable before your certificate will be issued.

How to start

Apprentices

If you are a current apprentice, contact your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Field Officer and request that your Supervising Registered Training Organisation (SRTO) be changed to PCD Training.

If you are about to be signed up as an apprentice, contact MRAEL on 1300 223 467 to get signed up and request PCD Training to be your SRTO.

RPL
