CPCCOHS1001A Work safely in the construction industry




Course Description:

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to undertake Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) induction training within the construction industry.


It requires the ability to demonstrate personal awareness of OHS legislative requirements, and the basic principles of risk management and prevention of injury and illness in the construction industry.


Course Purpose:


This course, through the unit of competency CPCCOHS1001A, satisfies the requirement to obtain ageneral safety induction white card. The white card is a requirement before a worker can work on a building or construction site.


Qualification requirements:


Completing this unit alone DOES NOT lead to a qualification, a participant will be issued a Statement of Attainment. The unit CPCCOHS1001A can be used as one (1) of the three (3) required electives for the course CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction. A participant has a six (6) month enrolment period to complete the unit of competency.

Duration:


The nominal duration for this program is 6 hours. The expected duration may end up much lower or higher depending on your particular circumstances.


Assessment description:


Participants will be required to complete a range of assessments, including questioning, activities, projects, etc. Assessment requirements are outlined in the unit. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is also available.


Entry requirements:


There are no designated entry requirements for this unit.


However, you will need a sound working knowledge of basic maths, e.g. addition, subtraction, division and multiplication and be able to read, write and understand standard English, similar to what is used in this brochure.


You must also be able to send and receive emails with attachments and install software. You will also be required to upload files and photos, including an audio response. You may also need to download files using a web browser.


You will also need access to a computer which has, or on which you are able to install, a web-cam.
